The Sony Ericsson P1 – How I Fell in Love With a Mobile Phone
Join me, as I tell you about why I like this king amongst mobile phones, the gorgeous Sony Ericsson P1.
Sony Ericsson – redefining the smartphone
Sony Ericsson are, in my opinion, one of the single best mobile phone manufacturers on the earth. But then, I would say that, in view of the fact that all but one of my mobile phones have been Sony Ericsson (the one that wasn’t was a Samsung… nice, but not in the same league). One of the huge things they’ve become known for is their range of smartphones. Over the years, they’ve produced some real stunners: the P800, P900, P910, P990 (although most broadcast didn’t like this one as much, I did…) and the most recent, the P1. That, right there, is their entire back catalogue of P-series smartphones. And yes, I’ve owned every single one of persons. I can honestly say I will, in all likelihood, never use anything but a Sony Ericsson smartphone, for the rest of my life, because, well, they really are stunners.
But why are they? Let’s take a look at the latest, the P1, and see why it’s so excellent.
The P1 – showing the world what mobile phones SHOULD be like!
In one word, if I had to describe the Sony Ericsson P1, it would be: stunning! Based around the Symbian UIQ3 boundary, with a full touchscreen, and QWERTY keyboard, it’s very clear that this phone is designed to be more than just a phone. the best way to reckon of it would be as a computer in your hand. with a super-powered processor, 128Mb of RAM, it combines the power of a touch like a Windows Mobile device with the ease of use that we’ve come to expect from mobile phones.
And that, right there, is why it’s the king of smartphones. Not because it’s the most powerful (it’s not), not because it’s the prettiest (it’s not, although it is gorgeous), and not because it’s the fastest (it’s not). It’s very simple; it’s the combination of persons elements. So, while there may be more powerful, quicker, or prettier mobile phones out there, the simple fact is that nothing, NOTHING mixes it all up, and puts it all together as well as the Sony Ericsson P1. That’s why i adore it, and it’s also why I’ll be getting its successor, the P5 when it finally gets launched!
Choosing the Perfect Mobile Phone or Mobile Broadband Deal
It can be minefield out there, trying to pick the perfect phone. So, let me help you make the choice. Let me help you get it clear, in your head, exactly what you want from a phone, and therefore, what will be the perfect phone for you.
First up, you have to question yourself: what is you want from your phone? Do you want a camera phone, to snap away for hours? Or do you want a music phone, to replace your mp3 player? Or maybe you want a smartphone, a phone that will do everything except give you a back rub after a hard day’s work? Or maybe, just maybe, you want a simple, basic phone, that will just give you the calls and texts you need, without all the frills anbd frivolous bits you don’t need!
So, once you’ve chose exactly why you want a mobile phone, then you need to sit down and reckon about what spec you’re looking at. It’s all well and excellent adage, ‘I want a camera phone,’ and then going out and buying the first one you see. You need to compare expenditure versus features. So, if you want a camera phone, you have to reckon, ‘Do I want a top-end 5 megapixel phone, to get photos as excellent as my digital camera, or will a cheaper 3 megapixel camera phone do?’
Likewise, if you’re looking at buying a music phone, you need to stop and reckon before wading in with your wallet out. Question yourself whether you want to entirely replace your mp3 player, and if so, check out different phones. Do you want to get one that has masses of built in memory, or is that too huge a phone (that is, you don’t have enough music to fill it), and if so, will a cheaper phone that uses memory cards do? With smartphones, it’s slightly more complicated. Because they’re so packed with features, it’s hard to choose between them… but then, if you’re in the market for a smartphone, you probably know exactly what you want!
Once you’ve chose exactly what spec you want your new mobile phone to be, then it’s time to budget for it. Set yourself a price range, and stick to it! Find a phone that does what you want within your price range. There are a wealth of mobile phones out there, and even mobile broadband, but once you narrow your search down to what you realy want, and what you can afford, you’ll find it gets a lot simpler!
Mobile Phones and Mobile Broadband – the Secrets of Choosing the Perfect Deal!
Let’s face it, if you’re trying to find yourself a new mobile phone, or if you’re trying to get yourself that perfect mobile broadband deal, it can be a bit of a minefield. You have to factor in the tariff, how many minutes you get, how many texts, whether you get international wandering… wel, the list goes on. But the thing is, it doesn’t have to be a minefield. It can really be really, really simple. Like anything, though, it takes a bit of preparation. You need to get your mind honest, and then everything else will stay on on from that. There’s no point running in half-cocked, and buying a mobile phone or a mobile broadband package, purely on the spur of the moment. Otherwise you’ll get buyer’s remorse, and you won’t delight in your buy. Like anything in life, prepare, prepare, prepare!
Step 1 – Analyse what you really want from your new deal
Ok, it sounds obvious, and it sounds silly, but you’d be amazed how many broadcast don’t do this. You need to question yourself: ‘What factors determine that I need a new mobile phone or mobile broadband? What benefits do I want to get from my new doohickey? How am I going to use it?’ In essence, sit down and stay on this rough guideline:
- How many minutes-worth of calls do I, or will I, make per month?
- How many text messages do I send per month?
- Do I need to send photo messages?
- Do I need internet access? If I do, might I be better off getting a mobile broadband package?
- How much am I willing to (or can afford to) pay every month?
Only when you’ve answered persons questions in your mind should you go on to step 2.
Step 2 – Choosing the right handset
This is the bit that traditionally is the toughest. You know, now, what deal you want, but have you chose on a phone? As before, don’t just buy the first one you find! Fortunately, you have a tool on your side, here: comparison sites (reckon along the lines of MobileShop, Pricerunner, or Kelkoo). They list everything you ca buy, and will let you search under innumerable criteria, like price, how many minutes and so on. So, go on to one of them, armed with the knowledge you have from Step 1, and start searching. Once you filled in what you want from the deal, no doubt lots of mobile phones or mobile broadband packages will come back.
Now, the next bit of advice may signal contrary, but basically… once you have fed in the details of what you want from the deal, the scomparison site will bring back handsets that contest that deal. So, you know that whatever you’re now seeing is within your range of options. Once you know that, it lets you go onto the next step with confidence…
Step 3 – Choose from the heart!
Now that you’ve made all the logical choices about what you need, you have a list of mobile phones and mobile broadband packages that fit your needs. So, now, you can choose a handsets based on what you want, on how the handset looks, or how you like the feel of it, or the fact it’s got a massive camera, or the fact that it plays back 93 billion different types of music. Or if you’re looking at mobile broadband, how it can run at speeds of 300 Megamassivemungabits per second!
You see, this is why you made all the vital choices early on. This is why you did all the dull ‘what do I really need?’ stuff right at the start. You did it so that NOW, you can jump in and grab whatver mobile phones catch your eye, whatever mobile broadband package says, to you, ‘Buy me!’ And voila, before you know it, you’ll have bought the perfect deal!
Mobile Phones Get Even Cooler With the 3 Skype Phone
We’ve had mobile phones with cameras, music and internet. Well, now there’s one with Skype: the incredible 3 Skype phone.
Witness the incredible 3 Skype phone
Released by the network 3, the 3 Skype phone is, quite literally, the first phone in description to be fully integrated with, and contain, Skype honest out of the box. Starting with the exterior of this exceptional mobile phone, it really is a clean-lined, chic beauty, with a gorgeous screen and well laid out, nicely lit keypad. And riiiight in the centre of the phone is a button marked Skype. I’ll come back to that in a second, but I’ll give you 3 guesses what that button does! Around the back, you’ll find a fantastic 2 megapixel camera, which, while not huge, is nicely huge enough to give you fantastic photos on the spur of the moment!
Features that place other mobile phones to shame!
Ok, I can tell you’re dying to see what happens when you press the Skype button, so let’s find out. Well, as you may have guessed (and if you’ve seen the name ‘Skype phone’, you really should’ve done!), that button kickstarts the Skype messenger service into life. Now, anyone who’s used it will know what it’s all about, but for persons don’t, Skype is what’s called a VoIP program. That’s Voice-over-IP, or internet phone calls, to you and me. It lets you make calls to any other Skype user in the world, without using or your minutes or credit on your normal mobile phone plot. Even better than that, though, is the fact that if you by now use Skype, you can log in using your existing details, and just use your existing contacts with, and I say this emphatically, ABSOLUTELY NO FUSS WHATSOEVER!
But of course, the Skype phone isn’t just a one trick phone. It’s not just built around 1 cool trick. It does lots of cool tricks! So, as well as Skype, you get Facebook access, honest out the box, Yahoo! and Google tools, internet access… in fact, as mobile phones go, the Skype phone is quite simply stunning! So, check it out today!
The Sony Ericsson J110i – the King of Ultra Cheap Mobile Phones!
Let’s take a look at the sexiest, coolest ultra-low-cost mobile phone I’ve ever seen: the funky Sony Ericsson J110i.
Sony Ericsson J110i – no frills, no fuss!
This is an vital question that needs to be questioned honest away: what makes the Sony Ericsson J110i so special? Is it gloriously overpowered? Does it have an awesome camera? Will it hold more music than any other one of the mobile phones that will play music? Will it grind every other phone in existence down into poweder with the sheer power of its features?
Well, no.
It’s special because it does absolutely none of that stuff! The Sony Ericsson J110i’s feature-set contains precisely one item. One. A colour screen. That’s it. By now, you’re probably wondering if I am, in fact, tripping, but I shall clarify myself. And in doing so, I’m going to convince you just how excellent the Sony Ericsson J110i really is. You may very well find you’re surprised by how nice it is! The key thing to consider, here, is not what the phone is, but who it’s aimed at. Y’see, there are broadcast in the world who don’t want a flashy, high-spec phone. To them, a phone is a phone, and just a phone, and a phone is all it is (and if you’re one of these broadcast, reading this, I salute you, because I like broadcast who know exactly what they want!)
Ultra low-cost mobile phones
Mobile phones, in their eyes, don’t need to be flashy, don’t need cameras, don’t need music, and don’t need anything except the basics. To them, a mobile phone is a tool, and let’s be trustworthy, there’s absolutely nothing incorrect with that viewpoint. If you just want a low-cost mobile phone, that just lets you call broadcast and send texts, then you should have one. But… and this is crucial… ‘low-cost’ does NOT mean the same as ‘rubbish’. You should get a nice phone, too, regardless of price.
And that’s where the stunning J110i, from Sony Ericsson, comes in. Yes, it’s low-cost. No, scratch that, it goes beyond that, I’ve never seen any mobile phones cheaper than this. But… and this is crucial, again… just because it’s low-cost, doesn’t mean it’s rubbish. It looks gorgeous, it’s a pleasure to hold, the keypad is wonderfully nice to use, and the backlighting is a scrumptuous blue colour. Not only that, but the call quality is exceptionally excellent, especially for a phone that expenditure less than a pint of beer!! And a pint of beer makes you get drunk, and fall over. The Sony Ericsson J110i just makes you drunk with happiness.
And hey, because it’s so low-cost, you can still afford a pint of beer, as well!
Incoming: Sony Ericsson Paris – the Undisputed King of Mobile Phones
There’s a mobile phone coming out later in the year, that is set to really give the world a kick up the behind. It’s by now being billed as the next super phone, even know no-one knows exactly what it’s called yet (except Sony Ericsson, and they ain’t tellin’). All we know is… it’s codename is the Sony Ericsson Paris.
Sony Ericsson smartphones – best in the business!
Ever in view of the fact that the P800 first came out about 5 years ago, Sony Ericsson have really been the first choice when it comes to smartphones, mobile phones that do more than the average phone. In a world of low-end camera phones, music phones that could fit about half a track on and some phones that still didn’t have colour screens, the P800 wowed us all with its music player, the fact it played 3D games, its massive touchscreen and the fact it played video (a touch I’d never seen on a phone up to that point!). Needless to say, I bought one honest away.
Mind you, I also bought a Sony Ericsson P900 when it came out. And a P910. And a P990, come to reckon of it. And yes, my current mobile phone’s a P1. Ok, I grant you, I’m a small biased… oh alright, I’m a Sony junkie. But, even if I wasn’t, the next super phone they’re bringing out would still get my attention, and have me all sweaty with excitement. Even though it doesn’t have a name yet (although the smart money’s on it being called ‘P5′), we all know this super mobile phone by its codename: the Sony Ericsson Paris.
Sony Ericsson Paris – the possibility king of the world!
The specs of the new Sony Ericsson Paris (that is, if they turn out to be right) are a touch truly special. Starting with the form factor, for the first time a Sony Ericsson P-series mobile phone is now a slider. But not just any phone, because in keeping with its smartphone root, it will have a full QWERTY keyboard. Looking round the back of the phone, one can see that it has a 5 megapixel camera (about time, too, the P-series has everlastingly lagged behind its Cyber-Shot brethren). Round the front, it’s been tentatively suggested that the screen is going to be 2.8 inches crosswise and, for the first time in Sony Ericsson’s description, it will be VGA resolution. Which will look reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally nice!
Inside the phone, things get even better, as Sony Ericsson are said to be using a groundbreaking new chipset for the Paris, with incredibly high-speed performance, and allowing you to use GPS (which before I forget, it also has built in). GPS on mobile phones is going to be one of the huge things this year, so if the Paris has it, it’s going to leading the way. Add in the latest operating system, UIQ 3.3, and the Sony Ericsson Paris is truly going to kick some bottom! No word on prices yet, but expect it to be available on O2, Orange and Vodafone.

Sony Ericsson – Mobile Phones for Every Occasion!
They’re one of the huge names in mobile phones. they’re a huge company, made of Japanese and Swedish brilliance. They are Sony Ericsson.
Who are Sony Ericsson?
Sony Ericsson are the 4th largest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world, and the second largest in the UK. That’s an vital distinction to make, and I’ll come back to it later. But for now, suffice to say they’re one of the huge boys, with one of the most instantly recognisable names in the mobile world. And if it isn’t obvious from the name, Sony Ericsson are really made up of a joint venture between two companies (no prizes for guessing it’s Sony and Ericsson…) That gives thi a vast wealth of expertise to draw from; from Ericsson, years of experience in the world of mobile phones and from Sony, even longer in the world of fabulously-groovy consumer electronics.
In essence then, what you’re getting is a perfect marriage of worlds, with Sony Ericsson. With that intimate knowledge of mobile phones, combined with Sony’s seemingly bottomless pockets and consumer innovations, it’s a recipe that leads to greatness. Sure, they may not have the might (yet) to take on the almighty Nokia (but then, who does??), but Sony Ericsson mobile phones are blazing their very own red hot trail through the world.
Mobile phones – the cream of the crop
So, which Sony Ericsson mobile phones stand out as being right world-beaters? Well, for starters, in the world of camera phones (one of the largest areas in the hisory of mobile devices, EVER), they stand proud with their Cyber-Shot range of phones, the flagship model of which, the K850i, is frighteningly powerful, and at 5 megapixels, produces frighteningly excellent photos. From the bottom of your heart, I’m talking proper, standalone digital camera quality, here! So, that’s camera phones in the bag. But Sony Ericsson also excel at music phones, and their personal stereo-series of mobile phones are synonymous with pure musical excellence. Having tried one myself, I can honestly tell you, they rock. Huge time!
They’re the main product ranges, but Sony Ericsson have other ranges, from fashion phones, to smartphones… and when I say smartphones, I mean ‘really, really smart, probably smarter than me’ phones. So, from the ranks of the fashionistas, you have the T650i and S500i, and from the ranks of their smartphones, you have the current grand master, the mighty P1i, which I consider to be the single best smartphone on the market (well, I would, that’s the phone I use). Well, it will be until the P5 comes out later in the year… And then, of course, there is the new X1 Xperia, designed to crack the America market.
All in all, then, Sony Ericsson fully deserve to be one of the huge boys, with a huge, cool portfolio of ace mobile phones. Let’s hope they kick Nokia off the number 1 spot within ten years time!
The Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia – All Hail Super-advanced Mobile Phones!
Let’s take a look at an upcoming, super-advanced mobile phone from Sony Ericsson; the stunning X1 Xperia.
The Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia – say hello to the possibility!
Announced at the 2008 Mobile World Congress, the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia is one of the new wave of super-advanced mobile phones. In fact, it really is a phone full of firsts. It’s the first Sony Ericsson to ever be built around Windows Mobile. It’s the first Sony Ericsson smartphone with built-in GPS. It’s the first m mobile phone I’ve ever seen with a touch-sensitive trackpad, just like you get on a laptop. And it’s the first phone to feature the cool new ‘arc slider’ design (more on that in a while).
In other words, the X1 from Sony Ericsson is a groundbreaking phone in lots and lots of ways. Or, to place it another way, say hello to the possibility of mobile phones!
Showing other mobile phones how it’s done!
Key to the mindbending awesomeness (a phrase I will never grow tired of) of the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia is its extensive and comprehensive features list. What you’re basicaly looking at is the mobile phone that will do everything (with the possible exception of making you a nice cuppa in the morning… and even then, it can only be a matter of time till someone makes a ‘make me a cup of tea’ accessory). But what exactly do you get for your money?
Well, for starters, it’s based around a groundbreaking new version of the fantastic Windows Mobile systi, seen in so many top-end mobile phones, so you get an entirely new, never-seen-before ‘panel boundary’, that lets you select your homescreen depending on your needs, whether that’s for music, calendar, office or so on. Of course, you’d expect Sony Ericsson to have place a camera in the phone, and you’d be right! They’ve wedged in a really nice 3MP camera, which will also record high quality video at 30 fps (so, DVD quality, then).
The killer feature of the Sony Ericsson X1, though has to be built in GPS, a incredible addition that means that theoretically, you’ll never get lost again… although, at least a passing knowledge of how mobile phones work would be needed…
