NEC DSX: Right Phone System

A well thought out phone system is integral to a successful business.  A customer needs simple access the company to communicate their needs.  This will assure you gain or keep their business.  The right phone system is derivative on your call volume.  If you’re a company that specializes in sales, a high number of both incoming and outgoing calls will be occurring daily.  But if you’re a specialty business, like a design company, the amount of phone calls you hear might be high, but you’re outgoing might be less, importance you need fewer phone lines than a sales company.  I’m going to highlight two phone systems, NEC DSX and a Panasonic KX, each with similar and distinct features to give you an thought of what’s out there.

The NEC DSX-40 phone system is a privileged end unit that can handle manifold lines.  The starter kit comes ordinary with a 4 slot KSU cabinet unit.  A KSU or Key Service Unit, is the brain of the phone system.  It routes numbers, stores voicemails, powers the phones, etc; it is essential to the functions of the system.  The kit also includes a CPU control card, 8 port CO/trunk card with built-in caller ID, 8 hour 160 mailbox for voicemail and three-22 key LCD show digital phones.  The system is built to household manifold mailboxes, intercom between stations and can support several phones at once.  This is the ideal system for a business making an equal amount of outgoing and ingoing calls.

A Panasonic KX-TA624 system is a mid-range unit meant for smaller businesses.  The package includes a KSU equipment kit to operate the nervous system of the phones.  It is built to handle 8 extensions but has smaller mailbox capabilities by defaulting.  There are three-24 key LCD show speaker phones that have similar intercom and paging capabilities.  While this phone system can be upgraded to handle more volume it comes ready to work with a small business in mind.

Keep in mind your current business, and where you plot to go with your business, when selecting the type of phone system you buy.  They are designed to streamline your business by increasing the efficiency of internal and external communication.  The price of the systems isn’t low-cost but is necessary, useful instruments for any company.
