How to connect your iPhone to your home Television
Each day I set out to learn one additional thing about my new iPhone and today I learned that I can connect my phone to my Plasma TV and run movies, podcasts, photos and lots more.
When I reckon back to my very first mobile phone and how primitive it was the distance cell phone technology has travelled really is quite incredible.
The first phone that I bought was an NEC P3, and at the time, broadcast regularly commented how small and fantastic it looked. Twenty years and billions of dollars of investigate, development later, and I now have the incredible apple iPhone in my pocket.
Anyway I digress lets get back to explaining the key steps required to connect your iPhone to your TV set.
First thing to do is to take a look at the back of your television set to determine which relations it has before you go shopping for the appropriate connection cable.
Turn the power off, and climb behind the back of the TV and take note what color the connectors are. If your TV is a few years ancient now it will probably have yellow, red and white plugs and this will mean that you will need to buy the Apple AV cable.
If your TV is new, the back will have red, green and blue relations and this means you will need to buy an Apple composite AV cable.
When you buy any of these apple relations you will have an additional cable that accompanies them, and this is called a AC to USB adapter. The reason this AC to USB cable is crucial is that it provides power to the iPhone whilst it is playing.
Without it the battery will drain extremely quickly whilst running through your TV.
What I have chosen to do is to keep the AC to USB adapter plugged into my plasma all the time as it tucks away and is only quite slim.
Once you have plugged your iPhone into the TV through the AC adapter you need to stay on the steps below.
Step One: On your home screen, you will see a small orange icon that says iPod on it. Tap on the iPod icon and a new screen appears.
Step Two: Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see an option that says TV out. To contest the iPods show you will need to select the right format. For example you may want to select widescreen on if you have a widescreen TV.
Step Three: Depending on which country you live in you will also need to select any the PAL or NTSC setting.
Step Four: Once you have made these key setting adjustments you will need to tap on the home button and then on the iPod icon again.
Step Five: You can then simply select the Video or podcast etc that you wish to play. Connect your TV to the iPhone and then double check that your TV is set to the right input for your connection.
The iPhone can now serve as a remote control to play, pause and stop the video that you are watching.
There is even A WHERE I LEFT OFF option so you can resume watching a video where it last bunged.
Increasingly a excellent understanding of the treatment deal you have on your phone is vital .The right plot may even mean that it is less pricey to buy videos through iTunes and mind them through your iPhone then the traditional way.
The other huge thing about setting up your TV is the ability to mind mini videos of family and friend moments after returning from an event, or even to show the Grand parents.
Access FREE videos to mind via iPhone
I chose that I would search You Tube, to see any ancient cartoons that my son would like. Surprisingly there were full version hero, batman, and many others, so I chose to try to find a way to export them and mind them on TV via iPhone.
Tube TV is a free software program that I found that enables you to convert YouTube videos to the right format for playback on your iPhone and then TV.
The software has a search bar and browser so that you can find videos on You Tube and other similar sites. Once you have located the movies that you are searching for
you can simply grab the url of the movie and have Tube TV export the movie to iTunes.
My iPhone education will continue tomorrow and I will write about my findings on the incredible small Apple device.
