Acromedia Ltd. Q2 – African Supply Chain and Logistics Management – Wireless Device Distribution
Acromedia Ltd., the third largest open market wireless device distributor has entered into an agreement with Swiss based Panalpina, to carry out logistics operations in the Sub Saharan regions of Africa. Ghana, Cameroon, Chad, Congo, Nigeria, and other Sub Saharan states have seen many economic improvements in recent years. Well endowed with natural resources, Ghana has roughly twice the per capita output of the poorest countries in West Africa. Signal macro-economic management along with high prices for gold and cocoa helped sustain GDP growth in 2008.
“ The economic conditions crosswise particular African markets are excellent for penetration. Despite the macroeconomic slowdown, and its serious implications throughout the region, the spirit and morale amongst the residents of many states remain strong. We find this encouraging. We believe in them and their eagerness to improve macroeconomic conditions inspires us. While many multinationals are retreating from Africa, we seek to build uniform positions in a spirit of camaraderie.”
The macro-background is challenging and we believe will remain so for the remainder of 2009 plainly. But, Acromedia’s longer term strategy remains valid and intact, and has a tremendous opportunity to capture value with Low-cost and ultra-low-cost (ULCH) handsets and privileged-end smart phones as prescribed by market indicators.
Despite the current background, it is very clear we must continue to invest in our possibility growth. Invest at a slower, more appropriate pace but invest to innovate and grow. We consider our scale and distribution to be a key competitive advantage and we are responding in a tactical manner to pricing activities of our competitors.
Acromedia Ltd. has focused much of its comprehensive distribution in META, the Middle East, Turkey, Africa. Although without a more ironclad logistics partner for the African market, Acromedia’s spot light has been its Izmir and Istanbul Turkey hubs where Penske manages regional distribution. The recent partnership with Panalpina will not affect Turkish distribution, but rather strengthen its African and comprehensive positions.
Turkey offers a host of barriers to entry for the most dedicated, and with Brightpoints recent withdrawal there remains a pool of possibility, if one can wade the murky waters surrounding Ankara. Turkish imports are a comprehensive question punctuated by confusion. Where others fail, Acromedia has thrived. This point could be no more clear than with its recent success in Ghana and Nigeria.
Acromedia has risen to a significant player in the comprehensive open market, an obvious position for a company dedicated to improving communication throughout young and emerging markets. Acromedia’s core beliefs are carefully cloaked within its mission statement; “Your success drives us.” Honesty, Trusted, Integrity, Results Oriented.

Dec. 2008
Apple Inc.
iPhone shipments totaled 4.4 million units versus our estimate of 4.1 million units. The company indicated channel inventory was drawn down by approximately 250k units (recall 3mm channel build of inventory in the prior quarter). Investigate has suggested current build targets in Asia for iPhone of 3.0-3.5 million units for the Mar-09 quarter, leaving us comfortable with our 3.3 million unit assumption in the Mar-09 quarter. The pro forma revenue recognition suggests the combined margin on the unrecognized revenue from the segment increased to 61% in the quarter versus 48% in the prior quarter.
Dec. 2008
Nokia Inc.
Device shipments totaled 113.1 million in 4Q08 (versus 117.8 mm in 3Q08 and 133.5 mm in 4Q07), a 4% sequential decline and a 15% Y/Y decline in units. Challenges associated with a channel drawdown of inventory (likely to continue in 1Q09) and poor credit availability have pressured orders and visibility. The company also indicated 1Q09 shipments would likely decline at a greater than seasonal rate relative to the last several years (shipments declined 13% seq in 1Q07 and declined 14% sequentially in 1Q06).

Spectrum Analyzer In The Mobile Wireless Communications Test Applications
2009, as the nation operating license issuing 3G licenses, China’s entry into the 3G era. Faced with new opportunities and challenges, both Communicate Operators or handset manufacturers have begun a new round of struggle. Communicate the existence of mobile phone frequency band during control, communication quality control testing and signal size of the problem. RF engineers are referred to as “RF Multimeter “The spectrum analyzer in spectrum analysis, the absolute advantage can help to solve these problems. This article will mobile wireless communication issues encountered in the corresponding solutions.
Question one: all communications operators to control their own communications band
ITU spectrum of communications for the strict definition, industrial and scientific communications, fixed and mobile services, satellite communications and other means of communication must be carried out within their respective bands, even in the same range of frequency of innumerable business Communication also has a strict definition. If the communication frequency bandwidth is beyond the scope of their distribution will not only interfere with other communications and energy will affect their communication. Therefore, the need for communications bandwidth and signal energy concentration tested.
Problem II: the need to ensure the quality of communication signals
In mobile wireless communications when the channels have a variety of noise mixed in there, and noise caused deterioration of the quality of communication signals, so the need for communication channel signal to noise ratio measurement.
Question 3: In the mobile wireless communication systems will exist in the respiratory effect and distance effect
In wireless communication systems, when a district of the interference signal is very strong, effective and well-methodical base station coverage area will be reduced; When a cell of the interference signal is weak, the real base station will be larger effective coverage This is the breathing effect. In small, the coverage radius of respiratory effect showed the number of users increases with the contraction. As the mobile phone users within a cell is randomly distributed, and is constantly changing, sometimes in the same cell phone users may be the edge, and sometimes close to the base station. If the phone’s transmitting power according to the design maximum communication distance, then when the phone close to the base station, the power must be a surplus, and the formation of harmful electromagnetic radiation, which is near-far effect. Solution to this problem is based on the different communication distance, real-time mobile phone transmit power adjustment, or power control. This requires the size of the communication signal in real time monitoring.
Spectrum analyzer can resolve these three issues, the following companies to launch DSA1030A RIGOL spectrum analyzer, for example, details on how to test. DSA1030A spectrum analyzer in the frequency range 9kHz ~ 3GHz, showed average noise level DANL to-148dBm, typical phase noise value -88dBc/Hz @ (Offset 10kHz), the whole range of accuracy of less than 1.0dB, can help solve the mobile attention problems. Meanwhile, DSA1030A spectrum analyzer also has a key measurement of rich features, you can deal with complex needs. The following to test a TD-SCDMA signal to illustrate the role of the spectrum analyzer.
For issues and problems of a second spectrum analyzer can be used DSA1030A ACP in adjacent channel power measurement and OBW measurement bandwidth to solve. Ling Dao power measurement can measure the main channel power, after the previous channel and a channel of power, and the main road and between the upper and lower adjacent channel signal to noise ratio measurement, the bottom left of Figure 1 for the measurements. Flexible according to specific needs of the user to set the main channel bandwidth, adjacent channel bandwidth and the main road and adjacent-channel spacing between the size of the bottom right of Figure 1 set the value for the measure. Ling Dao power measurement through the use of the function can be plainly measured the energy of communication channels and communications signal to noise ratio. Figure 1 can be drawn from the main road and the energy-10.69dBm largely concentrated in the 1.6MHz bandwidth, the line TD-SCDMA signal bandwidth of 1.6MHz each carrier’s requirements. Adjacent channel suppression is-51.32dB and-51.66dB, meet the general needs.
Figure 1 ACP measurement using the signal energy and signal to noise ratio
OBW bandwidth function can detect whether they are concerned with some of the energy of a specific bandwidth. By setting the power ratio was 99%, measured within the signal bandwidth 1.396666MHz contains 99% of energy.

New Wireless Technology ? Wi-fi:
Wireless Technology:
About Wireless Connection:
Wireless network refers to any type of computer network that is wireless, and is commonly associated with a telecommunications network whose interconnections between nodes is implemented without the use of wires, such as a computer network.
Wireless Connectivity Types:
Wireless LAN: Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is similar to other wireless devices and uses radio instead of wires to transmit data back and into the world between computers on the same network.
• Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is a commonly used wireless network in computer systems which enable connection to the internet or other machines that have Wi-Fi functionalities. Wi-Fi networks broadcast radio waves that can be picked up by Wi-Fi receivers that are attached to different computers or mobile phones.
• Fixed Wireless Data: Fixed wireless data is a type of wireless data network that can be used to connect two or more buildings together in order to extend or share the network bandwidth without physically wiring the buildings together.
? Wi-Fi Technology:
The purpose of Wi-Fi is to hide complexity by enabling wireless access to applications and data, media and streams. The main aims of Wi-Fi are:
• Enable access to information easily
• Ensure compatibility and coexistence
• Get rid of cabling and wiring
• Get rid of switches, adapters, plugs and connectors.
? Uses of Wi-Fi:
A Wi-Fi enabled device such as a PC, game console, cell phone, MP3 player or PDA can connect to the Internet when within range of a wireless network connected to the Internet. The coverage of one or more interconnected access points called a hotspot can comprise an area as small as a single room with wireless-opaque walls or as large as many square miles covered by overlapping access points. Wi-Fi technology has served to set up mesh networks.
Wi-Fi also allows connectivity in peer-to-peer (wireless ad-hoc network) mode, which enables devices to connect directly with each other. This connectivity mode can prove useful in consumer electronics and gaming applications.
Many consumer devices use Wi-Fi. Amongst others, personal computers can network to each other and connect to the Internet, mobile computers can connect to the Internet from any Wi-Fi hotspot, and digital cameras can transfer images wirelessly.
WiFi Phones:
A WiFi phone is a wireless telephone that looks similar to a mobile phone but places calls via a combination of voice over IP and WiFi rather than via a cellular network. Some WiFi phones use Skype or Vonage for their voice over IP service such as current Belkin and Netgear WiFi phones. Several cellular carriers have made “Dual-mode phones” to compete with WiFi Phones, which can be easily switched between using a WiFi connection when one is available and a traditional cellular network connection when WiFi is not available.
? Advantage Sides:
It’s quick.
Wi-Fi’s latest version is many times quicker than DSL or cable relations, and literally hundreds of times quicker than persons ancient dial-up relations. That’s particularly handy when you’re working on the run, on the road, or from home: If you’ve ever watched seconds tick by while watching Web pages load, you’ll appreciate the the makings productivity gain.
It’s convenient.
As soon as a Wi-Fi-equipped device is within range of a base station, it’s online. With no wires, you can go your laptop computer from place to place — for instance, from your office to a talks room down the hall, without losing your network connection. When roving, you can set up shop anyplace equipped with a Wi-Fi network: another company’s office, a hotel room, or a convention center.
It’s the world over.
Broadcast Wi-Fi access sites — or “hot spots” — are multiplying quicker than rabbits on Viagra. They’re in bookstores, airport lounges, quick-food restaurants (including some McDonald’s and Schlotzky’s Deli outlets), and coffee shops. In addition, local merchants from Cincinnati to Athens, Ga., to Portland, Ore., are footing the bill for larger hot spots, accessible throughout a business district or neighborhood.
? Drawbacks:
Range:
Wi-Fi networks have limited range. A typical Wi-Fi home router using 802.11b or 802.11g with a stock antenna might have a range of 32 m (120 ft) at home and 95 m (300 ft) outdoors. Range also varies with frequency band.
Although you lose the wires, you’re still limited to the base station’s range, typically 75 to 150 feet at home and a few hundred feet outdoors, depending on equipment, radio frequency, and obstructions.
Power drain:
Networks using early versions of Wi-Fi technology tend to quickly gobble power – a disadvantage for battery-dependent laptop users.
Security:
Here’s the downside of providing quick, simple access. Outsiders can sometimes get into your wireless networks as quick and easily as you can. Check with hardware vendors about the latest security precautions and products. The Wi-Fi Alliance currently recommends using Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) technology, which both authenticates users and encrypts data.

Convenience…More Than Enough Reason To Own a Set of Wireless Headphones
Looking for a gift for the business person in your life? Look no further than wireless headphones as the perfect gift…even for the person who has everything. These brilliant music accessories make a fantastic gift to give, whether as a business gift or as a personal gift to someone vital to you. What makes these listening devices such a excellent gift? It says that you value their time, safety, and happiness because of what these type of head phones offer.
Professionals can use these for a number of uses. In the office, they allow them to listen to music on their computer, or to take e-learning training or webinars without bothering the broadcast around them and without having cords to get the way of their work.
These same professionals can answer phone calls with wireless headphones and attached microphones, allowing them to converse and participate in talks calls while at the same time doing work that needs to get done (typing, filing, filling out reports, cleaning up their desk, etc.). If the signal sending unit is located close enough, they may even be able to wander around their office while they talk, allowing them to stay engaged in the conversation without getting sleepy or bored by sitting down the entire time. Many units have signal distances of up to 300′ away.
While on the road, they allow the professional user to make calls without taking their hands off of the wheel or their eyes off the road. It’s a fantastic way to help the busy professional stay in control of the car even during a business call. (But, many broadcast suggest that you should still pull over to the side of the road while taking a call because your mind may not be on the road).
Roving for business sometimes means working in airplanes, airports, and staying in hotels. Having wireless headphones allow the professional to plug into their laptop and do their work without having to untangle the cords.
Expect to spend $100 or more for a decent set of wireless head phones. You may also want to get batteries for them so the person can use them straight away out of the box. There are a number of excellent brands out there. Some of the top names contain: Koss, Logitech, Panasonic, Sennheiser, Iawa, and Shure, bluetooth, AKG, Audio-technica, Etymotic Investigate, JVC, Skullcandy, Philips, although there are many others.
There are a range of prices and styles. Some of the things you’ll want to look for contain noise canceling features (to keep out background noise) but persons are often (not everlastingly), larger and bulkier than the smaller ones available. One of the best kinds are canalbuds, which fit right into the ear (but don’t mix them up with earbuds which are cheaper versions that may be of a slightly lower quality). Canalbuds offer noise dampening and fantastic signal, and are very high quality, but can also be pricey.
Wireless headphones are the ultimate in convenience and safety because of their hands-free use and lack of cords. The professional you’re buying a gift for will thank you for making their life far more convenient and enjoyable.

Satellite Internet Vs. Cellular Wireless
If you live, work or trip in an area that cannot get broadband Internet like DSL or cable Internet, your options are generally dialup, satellite, cellular or wireless Internet access. While dialup, satellite and cellular Internet access are usually nationwide services, wireless Internet is a locally-operated service as the best technology today can only broadcast a wireless signal 10-28 miles.
Satellite Internet
Satellite Internet connects between a satellite receiver on your roof and a orbiting satellites. In order to use satellite Internet, you generally only need a clear exposure to the Southern sky. The two primary service providers are HughesNet and WildBlue.
In most cases, you will be required to buy and maintain the equipment (e.g. software updates). Satellite Internet is much quicker than dialup Internet, but download and upload speeds may vary greatly, and there typically is a latency period which makes VPN or voice-over-IP (VoIP) relations impractical.
Furthermore, additional expenditure are typically incurred for antenna re-alignments or adjustments.
Pros: Much quicker than dialup (20-40X quicker). Only requires a clear sight of the southern sky. Available at any location, no matter how remote.
Cons: Latency period which makes VPN or voice-over-IP (VoIP) relations impractical. Static IP address may be unavailable or available for an additional charge. Speeds may vary greatly. Threshold limits imposed (e.g. daily or monthly maximum treatment). May be affected by weather conditions.
Cost: Typical expenditure are $50-150/month. Equipment and installation expenditure $329-$600.
Cellular Phone Wireless (aka Mobile Broadband)
Several cell phone companies now offer high-speed wireless Internet via a cellular wireless card connected to your laptop. This cellular wireless card is not the same as a laptop wireless card used to connect to a home router or wifi network at a hotspot location (e.g. Starbucks).
A cellular wireless card works like dialup Internet access, but uses your cell phone to connect to the Internet. Cell phone wireless gives you the flexibility of connecting to the Internet from anywhere where you have cell phone signal. Speeds are much quicker than dialup but you cannot “share” your connection with other users, and you may incur per-minute charges (depending on the plot you select).
Pros: Much quicker than dialup (20-50X quicker). Available at any location where you have cell phone coverage. Fantastic for mobile professionals (e.g. realtors, field operators, etc.).
Cons: Internet relations drop (just like regular cell phone calls do). Cannot share the Internet connection with other computers. May incur per-minute charges (depending on the plot you select).
Cost: Typical expenditure are $50-150/month. Setup fees may be required.
