Motorola Working On Winmo?

It feels like one of the leading companies will be working back with the Windows Mobile. At the first sense it feels crazy.

I might say that Motorola was doing it’s job properly while working with the Android OS. But then come to things that changed my mind. First of all we want Motorola phones to be more adequate and to satisfy the needs of the the upper classes.

So, as it was by now announced by the Motorola co-CEO, the company will continue cooperation with the Microsoft and use Windows Mobile 7 as a basic operating system for its devices.

As we found out recently Flash updates are going to be available only for the smartphones which are running on the WinMo 7, so thisi is simply fantastic news. This means that we don’t really need to skip the update as some of the companies do.

Another fantastic point about the Windows Mobile 7 is the fact that some of the users of the Motorola are female. The investigate shows that the vast majority of the users of the smartphones based on the Android operating system are male. That’s why not to disappoint the female consumers we might need to use some other operating systems: then why not the WinMo 7?

And lastly it’s better to have two companions instead of one. If so you might work properly with both of the companies, you’ll be able to benefit from the both sides: enjoying all of the treatments from the both companies.

Except all of this another company- HTC was rather successful when cooperating with both that’s why we might base on this positive sample.

Asus, Acer and Toshiba are Working on Small Notebooks Using Qualcomm?s Instant-on Solution, Snapdrag

Acer, Asus, and Toshiba to make Snapdragon based netbooks

Acer and Toshiba are working on small notebooks using Qualcomm’s instant-on solution, Snapdragon. Really, according to Manjitt Gill (the interviewee) it is more like everlastingly on.

“Mobile Computing Devices (MCDs) offer a revolution in computing and communications in a thin and light form factor with a 7-12” show and full keyboard. MCDs are perfect for viewing movies and maps, or editing spreadsheets and documents while also having access to full Internet browsing and social networking. Dual-mode MCDs allow for notebook and tablet/reading mode to further improve the user experience.”

“Our thought is that (the device is) everlastingly connected. Even when you shut it down, it’s still ‘on.’ (The laptop) goes to your Chat server, gets your e-mail, puts it on the handbook–solid-state or hard handbook–and then when you’re ready to do e-mail, you flip it open and it’s right there. Instant on, everlastingly connected,”

There is some more fascinating info in the interview, including how Qualcomm sees the differentiation between what it calls Mobile Computing Devices (MCD) and the by now established Netbook. Intel is also revealing some details about how it has ramped up the ARM processor to compete.

So full day, everlastingly on and very mobile.. but it’s ARM based, Linux only. Could they really compete with Intel on more computer than phone like devices, netbooks?

It would need a lot of co-operation between them, Linux vendors and OEMs. Intel has been building their Linux only MID community for 2 years and all we have seen is very basic and not even nearly finished software. Hardware can enable, but to bring ARM based Linux netbook even near to current ones will need work.. maybe too much work?

Qualcomm seems to believe highly themselves as they are now christening Acer, Asus and Toshiba as their possibility Snapdragon customers:

“Companies including Acer, Asus, and Toshiba are plotting devices based on Snapdragon, according to Qualcomm. Acer, for example, will initially introduce Qualcomm’s Gobi 3G modem into its devices, then gravitate to products based on Snapdragon.”

We will see it soon with a bit of luck..
