The LG GD910 Touchscreen Watchphone Hits UK Market
This must have been welcome news to Dick Tracy/James Bond/Inspector Doohickey fans out there. After France got its hands on it first, Orange UK now has exclusive distribution for the LG GD910 watchphone as the first batch went on sale for a limited period last 27th of August at the Orange Shop in Bond Road, Central London.
Touted as a must-have doohickey this year, the watchphone comes at an exclusive price of ?500 but only from Orange. The scratch-resistant 3G touchscreen watchphone is sure to turn heads when you use it. Not so much for the device itself which looks like an oversized digital Casio wristwatch, but more because there are not that many broadcast walking the road talking to their wrist.
Full-Featured Mobile Phone
So what do you get for ?500? Firstly, wearing a watchphone at this time can certainly give you high profile presence wherever you go. The Liquid will certainly be a conversation piece in any party or gathering. Not many will be willing to fork out that much for a piece of hardware that is severely compromised to offer the same breathe of features on a flagship smartphone from Sony Ericsson, HTC or Nokia, to mention some. But you get the bragging civil rights and status as a doohickey geek who likes to be seen talking to his wrist.
The watchphone is a quad band GSM with 3G/HSDPA for making charming 3G calls possible. There’s no internet browser to benefit from 3G and rightly so. Try imagining yourself surfing on a 1.43-inch show with washed out 256k color support. It’s surprisingly a capacitive touchscreen covered in scratchproof glass. A Flash-based user boundary enables the touchscreen feature.
LG added speech recognition to control the watchphone so you can input commands by voice. Conversely it has text to speech ability that reads text messages so you can minimize straining your eyes reading text on a small show. Initiating a voice call can really be slick with voice commands – just question nicely and talk away.
Then there’s Bluetooth with A2DP which is fantastic so you can listen to your favourite mp3 files without a dandling wire to it, as if the 49 x 49 x 13.8mm body can accommodate a headphone jack. Until you realize its 80MB internal memory can only accommodate a few dozen low bitrate mp3 files. A microSD slot is asking a lot on its miniature body. In fact, you can just take out its nice leather strap and you have the smallest mobile phone on earth.
The watchphone features 8 different mind faces you can customize it with. They’re basically homescreen wallpapers that show you the time in analog or digital in innumerable show schemes. One of them is sure to catch your fancy.
A touch Unique for the Holidays
If price is no object and you really want a touch new this Christmas, try the LG GD910 watchphone. The price is low-cost for a right wristwatch though steep for a mobile phone. And you really just get a basic mobile phone for that price. The package comes with a Bluetooth earpiece which we strongly recommend you everlastingly wear with the watchphone when taking and making calls. This way, you can still have 50% of your calls in confidence without bothering the next person beside you.
With so many LG GD910 3G contracts on offer it can be hard to know which to go for. Best Mobile Contracts can help by comparing all the mobile deals on offer, and they also compare mobile broadband.
